July 5, 2009We extend a warm welcome all members and visitors to our 125th anniversary celebration service today! As we also celebrate our country’s freedom this weekend, let us also keep in mind the freedom God has provided from the penalty of our sins. That truly is a reason for celebration! Both our July 12 and 19 morning services will be a combined service at 10:00
a.m. in our church with lunch following and a combined service at 7:00 p.m. in
the North Church followed by refreshments. We will have a potential candidate
for minister preaching at both services on each Sunday. Our July 26 service will be at 9:00 a.m. in our church and the evening service will be at 7:00 p.m. in our church.

Our Savior’s Lutheran Church on 909 W 33rd St in Sioux Falls is sponsoring a summer noontime organ recital series. Each Wednesday, from 12:15 - 12:45, June 17 to July 15, organists from the area will play for your enjoyment. Sharon Buwalda will play a recital of all hymn tune settings on July 8. ATTENTION ALL YOUNG PEOPLE! Less than a month before our exciting Midwest B.A.S.I.C. YOUTH BIBLE CAMP begins. We have 5 days of fun and fellowship lined up for YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS! JULY 12 SERVICE/LUNCHEON: Next Sunday Kevin Yurk, a ministerial candidate, will lead us in worship. We will have a luncheon following the joint 10:00 a.m. service next Sunday in our church. Sandwiches will be provided and you are asked to provide a salad and dessert for the meal. Thank you. THE PLATTE SERVE HOST TEAM would like to invite everyone to the Commissioning Service on Sunday, July 12, 10:00 a.m. at the Platte Christian Reformed Church. We would also like to invite the "young at heart" to our Praise and Worship each evening, Saturday through Friday, July 11-17 in the church sanctuary at 7:00 p.m., except on Sunday when it will follow the evening service. Our Spiritual Life Leader this year is Mr. Rob VanZante, who is married to Kari Niewenhuis VanZante. Thursday will be our "day away" at Snake Creek. If anyone is willing to bring their boat, or if you just want to join us, we will leave Platte at 1:00. We covet your prayers during this week, both for safety and for spiritual growth. If you have any questions, please contact Ken Lieuwen. THE RELAY FOR LIFE OF DOUGLAS COUNTY is requesting donations of canned goods for the luminaria bags. All canned goods donated will be given to the Douglas County Food Pantry following the Relay. Food items needed are canned meats, canned pastas and tomatoes and fruit in lite syrup. Please bring your canned goods by Monday, July 13, to the drop-off sites at Farmers Alliance in Corsica and Corner Market in Corsica. Thank-you! On August 28-29, 2009, Beth will bring Living Proof Live to her hometown of Green Bay, WI, and, thanks to simulcast satellite technology, she’ll spend the weekend here in Platte too. You can experience every minute of her powerful messages, along with incredible praise and worship led by Travis Cottrell. The simulcast is scheduled for Friday, 7:00 - 9:30 p.m., and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Tickets are $35.00 each.
