Arlene L. Bamberg, 87, died at Douglas County Memorial Hospital on Thursday, October 14, 2010. Funeral service will be Monday, October 18, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Peter Lutheran Church near Armour with burial following in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery near Armour. Visitation will be Sunday, October 17, 2010 from 6 - 8 PM at Koehn Bros. Funeral Chapel in Corsica with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Arlene L. Bamberg was born August 31, 1923 on a farm near Corsica, SD to William and Amanda (Weinart) Plamp. She grew up on the family farm where she attended country grade school and graduated from Corsica High School in 1941. After graduating she went to Oregon and worked in the shipyards during World War II. On November 23, 1943 she married Henry A. Bamberg of rural Corsica. They lived and farmed east of Corsica until retiring in 2006 when they moved into Corsica. Arlene was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church near Armour. She enjoyed leather craft, raising chickens, helping on the farm, spending time with her grandchildren and going to there sporting events. She died on October 14, 2010 at Douglas County Memorial Hospital in Armour at the age of 87.

She is survived by her husband, son, Henry W. Bamberg and wife, Sue of Corsica, SD; three grandchildren: Lorisa Broughton and Husband, Jason of Corsica, SD; Wade Bamberg of Littleton, CO; Nadene Hajek and husband, Bob of Sioux Falls, SD; four great-grandchildren: Preston; Ashley; and Avery Broughton; and Trillian Hajek; and a step-great-grandchild, Jori Hajek She was preceded In death by her parents, brother, Pete Plamp, sister, Eleanora Moore; Daughter-in-law, Hazel Bamberg, four brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, a nephew, and a great-nephew.
