Dick Hofstee, 85, New Holland, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, at Good Samaritan Center, Corsica.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christian Reformed Church, New Holland, with the Rev. Don Cowart officiating. Burial will be in New Holland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Koehn Brothers Funeral Chapel, Corsica, with an 8 p.m. prayer service.

He was born on Feb. 10, 1925, in Eestage, Friesland, the Netherlands, to Hans and Berendje (Rienstra) Hofstee.

In 1929, he immigrated to Minnesota and later to California with his family. He attended Bellflower Christian School through ninth grade and worked on his parents' dairy until he was drafted into the Army in 1946. He was part of the occupation force in the Philippines. After his discharge, he farmed with his brother near Worthington, Minn.

On Oct. 5, 1950, he married Arlene Van Hofwegen. They moved to California. He worked with dairy cattle with his brothers and son in three states. He served as a deacon in Worthington and New Holland.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Harvey and wife, Sharon, New Holland; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers: Gerrit and wife Jean; and Everett; a brother-in-law: Marvin Luinenburg; four sisters-in-law: Clara Hofstee, Lee Hofstee, Geneva Luinenburg and Norma Dykstra; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two grandsons, his parents, a sister, Klaasje; two brothers: Peter and Hans; three sisters-in-law: Adriana Hofstee, Johanna Hofstee and Henrietta Van Hofwegen; and two brothers-in-law: Adrian Van Hofwegen and Richard Dykstra.
