Eldon "Red" Beukelman, 77, Madison, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Havasu Regional Medical Center, Lake Havasu City, Ariz. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at United Methodist Church, Madison, with the Rev. Ryan Mutzenberger officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Madison.

There will be a 7 p.m. prayer service Thursday at Weiland Funeral Chapel, Madison.

He was born on May 16, 1935 at Corsica to Abe and Gertrude (Mulder) Beukelman. He married Irma VerSteeg at Orange City, Iowa, on Sept. 3, 1954. He grew up in Corsica, graduating from Corsica High School.

He attended Northwestern College in Orange City and Augustana College, Sioux Falls, before going to work as an insurance agent for Prudential Insurance in Sioux Falls.

From 1959 to 1962, they lived in Orange City, where he sold agriculture equipment. They moved back to Corsica, where he ran Beukelman Insurance Agency for 23 years before moving to Madison.

He worked at First Madison Bank Insurance Agency until 1989, when he started First Madison Insurance. He retired in 2001.

He was an active member of the Lions Club, coached youth baseball and hunter safety courses. He was also on the Corsica Fire Department, Corsica School Board and Douglas County Hospital Board. He was also active on the Madison City Planning Commission.

He is survived by his wife, Irma, Madison; four sons: Scott (Marcia), Marshall, Minn.; Stephen (Patricia), Sioux Falls; Jim (Lorna), Maple Grove, Minn.; and Jerry (Wendy), Crested Butte, Colo.; two daughters: Sandi (Greg) Peterson, Waconia, Minn.; and Sheryl (Scott) Muckey, Corsica; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one sister, Joyce (Leon) Wrage, Brookings.
