Katie J. Dykshorn, 90, Parker, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital, Mitchell.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Reformed Church, Harrison. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery, Harrison. Visitation will be Wednesday at Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service.

She was born on Sept. 7, 1918, near Stickney to Jacob and Hattie (Brouwer) Wolbrink.  She attended country school, graduated from Stickney High School and received a teaching certificate from Northwestern College, Orange City, Iowa. She taught school for eight years.

On May 22, 1946, she married Charles Dykshorn. They farmed in the Corsica area. Her husband died in 1979. In 1990, she moved to Harrison, and in 2003, to Parker.

She was a lifetime member of First Reformed Church, Harrison, and a Gideons member since 1950.

She is survived by two sons: Andrew and wife Marilyn, Parker; and James, Salem; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a sister, Sarah De Boer, Corsica.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Edward; a granddaughter; her parents, seven brothers, a sister and a daughter-in-law, Twila.
