Marie S. Kok, 88, died on December 24, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center in Corsica. Funeral service will be Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the Christian Reformed Church in New Holland at 10:00 AM with burial following in New Holland Cemetery in New Holland. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from 5 - 7 PM at Koehn Bros. Funeral Chapel in Corsica with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.

Marie S. Kok was born on September 10, 1923 to John and Eva (Ligtenberg) Schelhaas in Corsica, SD. She was the oldest of 8 children growing up on a farm in Douglas County, SD. She graduated from Corsica High School and the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD with a teaching degree. In 1946, she married Arthur Kok in Corsica. They farmed near New Holland all of their married life. Marie was a teacher for many years at various school in the area. After retiring from teaching, she worked as a CAN at the Good Samaritan Center in Corsica for 13 years. She was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in New Holland. She loved to read. She died at the Good Samaritan Center in Corsica on December 24, 2011 at the age of 88.

She is survived by three children: Lois (Jim) Groenewold of Fox Lake, WI; Wayne Kok of Huron, SD; and Jay Kok of Corsica, SD; two grandchildren: Ryan (Sarah) Groenewold of Horicon, WI and Annie Groenewold of Green Lake, WI; three great-grandchildren: Reegan, Brady, and Corbin; brother, Roland Schelhaas of Corsica, SD; four sisters: Darlene (Gene) Shoemaker of Byron Center, MI; Sylvia Wormmeester of Grandville, MI; Eunice (Dan) Pfeiffer of Grand Rapids, MI; and Ruth (Donn) Rubingh of Cincinnati, OH; sisters-in-law: Beulah Zomer of Corsica, SD; Ann Kok of Waverly, TN; and Berdine Kok of Sioux Falls, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Art, grandson, Travis, two sisters, Ramona and Jessie Schelhaas, and brother-in-law, Fred Wormmeester.
