Mary Lou Vlasman, 80, Corsica, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at her home in Corsica.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Aurora Reformed Church, Aurora Center. Burial will be in Aurora Center Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Grace Reformed Church, Corsica, with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

Koehn Brothers Funeral Home, Corsica, is handling arrangements.

She was born on Dec. 25, 1930, at Storla to M. Victor and Cora (Tastad) Johnson.

She grew up in Aurora County, attended various country schools and graduated from Plankinton High School.

On June 24, 1948, she married Marion Vlasman at Storla Lutheran Church.

They farmed west of Stickney until 1983, when they moved to Rapid City and managed a motel.

They then moved to Sioux Falls, where they managed a motel and later worked at Ramkota and Kmart before retiring in 2001.

She moved to Corsica in 2003 after her husband’s death.

She is survived by three children: Linda Iedema and husband LeRoy, Platte; Beverly Nydam Varilek and husband Tom, Stickney; and Roger, Sioux Falls; seven grandchildren, 11 great-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 30, 2003; a grandson, her parents, three siblings: Ardis Heidinger and Vernon and Gale Johnson; and a son-in-law, Jason Iedema.
