Raymond R. Kok, 80, died at the Good Samaritan Center in Corsica on October 16, 2009. Funeral service will be Monday, October 19, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Christian Reformed Church in Corsica with burail following in the New Holland Cemetery in New Holland. Visitation will be Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 4:30 to 6:00 PM at Koehn Bros. Funeral Chapel in Corsica with a prayer service at 6:00 PM.

Raymond R. Kok was born on February 26, 1929 to Benjamin and Bessie (DenBesten) Kok in Douglas County, SD. He entered the US Army during the Korean Conflict. On August 21, 1958, he married Berdine Nydam at the Christian Reformed Church in Platte, SD. They farmed 3 miles south of New Holland, SD on the family farm for 40 years. Upon retirement, They moved to Corsica, SD where they lived for the past 13 years. Ray as a member of the Christian Reformed Church in New Holland until retirement, then transferred his membership to the Christian Reformed Church in Corsica. He served on both church councils for multiple terms. He also served on the boards of Dakota Christian High School, New Holland Christian Grade School, and as treasurer of Clark Township for 25 years. He enjoyed reading, golfing, spending the last five winters in Arizona, and traveling to visit family in his retirement. He died on October 16, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center in Corsica at the age of 80.

He is survived by his wife, Berdine of Corsica, SD; 4 children: Terry Kok and wife, Twyla of Tulsa, OK; Brent Kok of Grand Canyon, AZ; Kevin Kok and friend, Maggie of Sioux Falls, SD; and Kristie Kok of Corsica, SD; sister, Beulah Zomer and husband, Egbert of Corsica, SD; 4 grandchildren: Taylor, Tanner, Derick and Heather; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Randall, 2 brothers, Clayton and Arthur, and 2 sisters, Helen and Esther.
