Roy Scholten, 86, died at the Good Samaritan Center in Corsica on Thursday, February
13, 2014. Funeral service will be Monday, February 17, 2014 at Grandview
Reformed Church in Armour at 10:30 AM with burial following in Pleasant Ridge
Cemetery in Armour. Visitation will be Sunday, February 16, 2014 from 6 - 8 PM
at Grandview Reformed Church in Armour with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.

<p>Roy Scholten was born on June 8, 1927 north of Armour, SD to Albert and Clara
(Meurs) Scholten. He attended Ebenezer Country School in Douglas County. He
entered the U.S. Merchant Marines at the end of WWII. He married Ada DeWaard on
February 10, 1948 in Stickney, SD. Together they farmed in Douglas County until
they moved to Sioux Falls, SD in 1986. He attained his GED in 1986. Roy worked
at Sioux Vocational School in Sioux Falls. In 1995, they moved to Corsica, SD.
Roy worked for the Corsica Nursing Home driving the van transporting residents.
He was a member of Grandview Reformed Church in Armour, Gideons International,
and Lay Witness Missions. He served on the Good Samaritan Center Board in
Corsica and as a Douglas County Commissioner. Roy enjoyed visiting with friends
and family. He died at the Good Samaritan Center in Corsica on Thursday,
February 13, 2014 at the age of 86.</p>
<p>He is survived by his 4 children, David Scholten and wife, Ann of Corsica,
SD, Nancy Hantouli and husband, Gus of Omaha, NE, Tim Scholten and wife, Tara of
Omaha, NE, and Joel Scholten of Washington, DC, sister, MaryAnn Peters of
Corsica, SD, son-in-law, Jim Reynolds of Omaha, NE, 10 grandchildren, many
great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.</p>
<p>He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ada, daughter, Myra Reynolds,
and brother, Ben.</p>
<p>Memorials may be given to the Gideon International or Good Samaritan Center
Van Fund in Corsica.</p>
